Auto FTP Manager supports scheduling of Automated Transfer Profiles and can run in the background. This does not run as a service but it does run off your system tray in background, which works on all operating systems.

Does this mean that you can not set up the app to run on a server unattended? I would like to have the app FTP a file as part of a larger system. A daily FTP file would be created over night and this app would transfer the file some set time later. Can this be done?

Technically, Auto FTP Manager does not run as a windows service. I think your main requirement is to run on a server unattended. Yes, you can schedule Automated Transfer Profiles in Auto FTP Manager to run unattended in the background (minimized to the system tray).

You can create Automation Profiles to schedule transfer the content of folders on a FTP server. If you need to transfer a single file, you can use the following method.

Make sure that the file is created in a separate folder. Then, create a new Automation Profile and specify this folder as the Local or Remote path, depending on whether you want to upload or download the file. You can then schedule this profile to run at a specified time in the background.

Version 5.0 of Auto FTP Manager will run scheduled transfers even if no users are logged on. We expect to release it by the end of March.

Development of Auto FTP Manager 5 is taking longer than we expected. This is a major upgrade. There are many new features that need to be created properly and fully tested.

At this point, we expect to release version 5 by the end of July.
