    Q. What is Video Caster?
       
      Video Caster is a streaming media creation and publishing system. It helps you to create your own movies, multimedia slide-shows and animation sequences and to record audio. It can then take these media files from your computer and encode them into streaming media clips. These ‘encoded’ streaming media clips can then be published on our streaming server by Video Caster, so that they are ready to be viewed by your friends and family, over the Internet.

    Q. What is an FTP account?
       
      Your FTP Account is your disk space on a FTP server. It is the root directory, on which you can create your own subdirectories and store your uploaded media files.
     
    Q. How do I encode a Media file in Video Caster?
       
      The Encoder in Video Caster helps you convert your video / audio files into a streaming format so that they are ready to be hosted on the streaming server and accessed by your friends from around the world. You may access the Encoder in Video Caster by right-clicking on a media file and selecting ‘Media > Encode & Publish’. You may also use the ‘Tools’ menu to open the Encoder or click the Encode button in the Tool bar.
     
    Q. How do I publish files through Video Caster?
       
      Video Caster provides you with the file publishing utility, wherein you just need to login into your FTP account and make use of the various options. You can upload the media file to any FTP server through Video Caster. You may access the 'Publish' in Video Caster by right-clicking on a media file and selecting ‘Media > Encode & Publish’. You may also use the ‘Tools’ menu to open the publisher or click the Publish button in the Tool bar.

      Microsoft DirectX® is an advanced suite of multimedia Application Programming Interfaces (API’s) built into Microsoft Windows® operating systems. DirectX provides a standard development platform for Windows-based PCs by enabling software developers to access specialized hardware features without having to write any hardware-specific code. DirectX is a recognized standard for multimedia application development on the Windows platform.
       
     

    In simple words, DirectX is a Windows technology that enables higher performance in graphics and sound when you’re playing games or watching video on your PC. You need to have DirectX 8.1 or higher installed, to be able to use Video Caster.

    Q. Where can I download Microsoft DirectX?
       
      Windows 98 (Second Edition), Windows Millennium Edition (Windows Me), and Windows 2000 users can download the latest version of DirectX from the Microsoft site. Windows XP users need not download DirectX for Video Caster. Windows XP has appropriate support for DirectX built into it.
