What can I do with WebCam Monitor?
WebCam Monitor turns your Windows PC and camera into a remote monitoring and video/audio recording system. It supports over 100 different models of IP cameras and almost any USB camera. WebCam Monitor can detect motion or noise, record video and audio, take snapshots, sound an alarm, send email alerts, and upload recordings to any server using the Internet. It can also broadcast a live audio/video feed from your camera or cameras that can be viewed from anywhere in the world.
What is motion detection?
Motion detection in a video surveillance is sensing the movement or noise and automatically triggering some actions. These actions are called “Alerts” which include audio and video recording, taking sequence of photos, getting email notifications, playing a sound alarm, and launching a program.
Can I use more than one camera?
Yes. You can use multiple cameras to monitor more effectively. WebCam Monitor will automatically cycle among all the cameras, monitoring each in turn.
Can I save the history of all alerts?
Yes, WebCam monitor records all events in a log file. Each event is listed along with the date and time. This log file can be saved, and used for future reference and analysis.
Is it possible to start and stop monitoring on a schedule?
Yes, you can set WebCam Monitor to start and stop the video monitoring on a daily, weekly, or custom basis. For instance, you could set the program to automatically monitor with your custom alerts between the hours of 7:00 pm and 9:00 am, Monday through Friday.
How to avoid false alarms due to slight motion detection such as change in brightness of light?
The slightest motion is detected due to high motion sensitivity resulting into false alarms. Decreasing the sensitivity ignores the slight movements and detects only the pronounced motion. Click Settings > Monitoring and adjust the Sensitivity slider.
Can I use WebCam Monitor to detect motion and record from multiple cameras at the same time?
When you need to monitor, and record multiple cameras simultaneously you should consider using Security Monitor Pro, an enhanced version of WebCam Monitor.
Can I use WebCam Monitor to view my webcam over the Internet?
WebCam Monitor can broadcast video from any camera, and audio from any microphone (including those that are part of USB or FireWire cameras) as a standard Windows Media stream. When motion is detected at my home, can I get notified instantly to my office?
Yes, you can configure WebCam Monitor to send an email notification as soon as motion is detected. There is an option where you can attach the JPEG photos along with the email showing the event that occurred.
My camera is setup in such a way that its view is upside down, which results into inverted images.
You can rotate the camera view by 180 Degrees so that your recordings and images are also normal. Click Tools > Options > Camera Manager and enable the option Rotate Camera preview 180°.
Which IP cameras can I use with WebCam Monitor?
WebCam Monitor will automatically work with almost any USB or FireWire connected camera, and with many analog cameras using many video capture cards.
