I'm using Video Edit Magic 4.24 and My understanding is:
In order to get the video I shot on my Canon Elura 100 (MiniDV) camera to my PC I need to do that through the Fire Wire 1394 port on the camera. This will NOT be possible through the USB connector. (True/ False) - The prior post on this dealt with an older version of Video Edit Magic and I want to make sure the story is still straight.
Ok, for my real question. Is there any magic to these FireWire 1394 Cards? Can I just get some 3 port card and use that or do I need a specific Capture Card with a 1394 port in order to play nice with Video Edit Magic?

Video Edit Magic [EM]can[/EM] capture from a USB port, as well as a 1394 (FireWire) port. You may want to download
version 4.26
(a free upgrade), which has new capturing features.
Any 1394 card supported by Windows should work fine with Video Edit Magic.

Is there any problem if I just copy the mini-dvd from a camera Sony dcr-dvd105 to my hd? What does CAPTURE add to the files?

Yes, you can copy the video from the mini-DVD to your hard drive.
Capturing is meant for cameras that are tape-based. For cameras that have DVD or hard disk storage, capture is not needed. The video files can be transferred directly to the computer.
