Hi there. I just cannot seem to get the test email to work. I am connected to the net via a 1 Mbps cable connection, and I am using the email address and password given to me by my ISP. I have also added port 25 the list of open ports (a friend told me that 25 needed to be open for SMTP).

Still I cannot send the email though. Not quite sure what to do next, any ideas?

Thanks for the help!

Most ISPs that provide cable connections block port 25 to counter spam. Instead, they provide you with their own outgoing e-mail server to send out e-mails. You need to specify this e-mail server in WebCam Monitor. To do so, click "Configure SMTP Server" on the E-mail Notification Alert settings screen.

If you have Outlook configured correctly then you can refer to these settings.

Also, make sure that you using the latest version of WebCam Monitor. To download the latest version, visit:

I have 3 possible e-mail servers (verified as working perfectly with no port blocking). One of these is actually an internal server on the same LAN as the program.

I am still not able to send e-mails.

Thanks, Tensai

Please download and install the latest version of WebCam Monitor (3.48) from:
https://www.deskshare.com/wcm.aspx

The new version contains enhanced help messages when you try to send a test e-mail. It also gives you an option to view an e-mail log so you can quickly find the problem.

Some of the problems that you can diagnose by viewing the e-mail log are:
1. Outgoing Mail Server User Name and Password authentication.
2. Invalid or misspelled Mail Server name and IP addresses.
3. Send e-mail denied due to blocked IP addresses.
4. Blocked relay ports on mail servers.
