Sound stops while playing DV AVI in Adobe Premier Pro

Am a videographer and use Premier Pro to edit my work. I had taken an MPEG-2 video and converted it back to DV AVI to do additional editing for the customer. The DV AVI file played fine when running it in a basic player application, but when I put it into Premier Pro, the first four minutes of the twelve minute video were okay, then the audio went to a near flatline and produced a "purring" sound.

DV-AVI files are generally very large in size. We found that Adobe Premier Pro has a problem with file size greater than 2GB. One solution is to convert your file to a different format such as (normal) AVI using a video compressor like Cinepak Codec and Uncompressed for Audio.

The other option is to use Video Edit Magic, which is published by DeskShare. Video Edit Magic can handle DV-AVI file of sizes greater than 2GB. You can download a trial version of Video Edit Magic from the link:
