Configuring DNS Server
The Domain Name Service (DNS) lets a computer convert a domain name (like www.deskshare.com) into the numeric IP address that is required to actually connect to the server. Security Monitor Pro automatically detects your DNS Server Settings. You can configure a different set of DNS servers than the ones used by Windows. DNS server IP addresses in the list are used in the order specified, one after another. If one fails then the next is used.
To configure the DNS server:
- On the Tools menu, click Application Settings.
- Select the Remote Monitoring tab.
- Under DNS Server, click Configure.
- Click Add, Remove or Edit to maintain the list of DNS Server IP addresses and click Up or Down to change the order of DNS Server IP addresses. You may also click Auto Detect to detect the DNS Server settings used by Windows. If required, contact your network administrator.
- Click OK.
