Changing Video Frame Rate

By default, My Screen Recorder Pro creates screen recording with:

  • Frame Rate: 5 frames/second.
  • Key Frame Rate: 1 key frame every 80 frames.

These are reasonable defaults for a medium paced screen recordings.  However, if you want to record fast moving objects on the desktop, then you must increase the frame rates.  On the other hand, if you know that most of the time, there will be little or no activity on the desktop then you can also choose to reduce the frame rates.

Changing the frame rate effects:

  • File size of the Recording: The lower the frame rate, lower the file size.
  • Processor usage: The lower the frame rate, lower the processor usage.
  • Video quality: The lower the Frame Rate, the jerkier motion on the screen will appear.

To change the frame rate:

  1. On the Tools menu, click Settings.
  2. Select the AVI Video tab, if not already selected.
  3. Move the Frame Rate slider till the desired frame rate is achieved.
  4. Click OK.

NOTE: In some cases, increasing the frame rate value above 10 frames/second might cause synchronization issues.

Key Frame Rate

The Key Frame Rate defines how often full frames are saved in AVI files.  A high value of key frame rate results in smaller file size but lower quality video.

Changing the Key Frame Rate affects:

  • File size of the Recording: The higher the value of Key Frame Rate, the lower the file size.
  • Processor usage: The higher the value of Key Frame Rate, the lower the processor usage.
  • Video quality: The higher the value of Key Frame Rate, the lower the video quality.

To change the Key Frame Rate:

  1. On the Tools menu, click Settings.
  2. Select the Video tab.
  3. Move the Key Frame Rate slider to specify a new Key Frame Rate.
  4. Click OK.
